Parque Natural da Ria Formosa
O Parque
Natural da Ria Formosa foi criado pelo Decreto-Lei nº 373/87,
de 9 de Dezembro, posteriormente regulamentado pelo Decreto
Regulamentar nº 2/91, de 24 de Janeiro.
Estende-se ao longo de 60 kms da costa sotavento do Algarve,
entre o Ancão e a Manta Rota e ocupa cerca de 18.400 ha,
distribuídos pelos concelhos de Loulé, Faro, Olhão, Tavira e
Vila Real de Santo António. |

Von Cacela Velha östlich von Tavira bis zum kleinen Ort Ludo
nahe des Flughafens von Faro erstreckt sich das
Naturschutzgebiet „ria formosa”. Seine vorgelagerten Sanddünen
bilden langgestreckte Inseln mit typischer Vegetation,
unterbrochen von Durchfahrten zum offenen Meer, den „Barren”.

Location
In the last paradise of the
Algarve, Ria Formosa Natural Park,
in front of Tavira and Cabana islands, in perfect harmony with
the environmental and landscape integration. Born from the
recovery of the self- contained fishing compound – Arraial
Ferreira Neto – this unit constitutes a piece of relevant
cultural, historical and architectonic value, being an
important reference of the history of tuna fishing in the
Algarve. |

One of the attractions for us in the Algarve area was the
wetlands wildlife. We took a bus out to the National Park
of Ria Formosa with great hopes of seeing flamingos.
(...)That was quite
alright, as we enjoyed our visit to Ria Formosa where we saw
the Purple Gallinule, their signature bird. |

Tavira e o seu
Concelho situam-se numa região lagunar conhecida pelo nome de Ria
Formosa, dispondo de uma fauna rica em Flamingos, Garças, Gaivotas,
Patos-Reais, Maçaricos-Reais, Mergulhões, que os turistas podem
observar. Esta região tem características de fauna comuns com a
Camargue Francesa.(...). |

Introduction
Like many other bivalves,
Ruditapes decussatus live in the sediments and accumulate
metal concentrations reflecting gradients of metal contamination
from the surrounding environment (Henry et al., 1984;
Bebianno et al., 1993). This suggests that its tissues
have mechanisms related to their filter-feeding habits that
inhibit the toxic effects of these contaminants.(...) |
